Although the milk pregnancy test is used worldwide on millions of cows until recently it hasn’t been used widely across the UK. In the UK, much of the herd fertility work, including pregnancy diagnosis, is done by the farms’ vet, and for many herds, this is based on regular weekly or fortnightly visits.
Between 2016 and 2018 NMR and RAFT Solutions Ltd ran a practical field-based study on six farms and over 1,000 cows to evaluate if the milk pregnancy test could be integrated with a vet-led fertility programme to improve herd reproductive performance by the early identification of foetal death post-pregnancy diagnosis. This webinar will present the findings from the study and show how testing can be used to successfully identify such open cows for rebreeding.
